HARTFORD, Conn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aetna (NYSE: AET) today announced the appointment of Cain Hayes as head of its Public & Labor business. In this role, Hayes will have full operating and financial responsibility for the business, including pricing, underwriting, product, distribution and business strategy.
Hayes joins Aetna from Nationwide where he was senior vice president & chief sales officer for Nationwide Retirement Solutions. He previously enjoyed a 17-year career at Principal Financial Group.

He has a proven track record for delivering customer-focused sales strategies and retiree solutions to states, counties, municipalities and educational institutions, which will be critical to help position Aetna for continued growth and success in the public and labor marketplace.
Hayes graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, with a degree in marketing and earned an MBA from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. In addition, he earned the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist designation from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
