You would not expect a 100-year-old man with multiple health conditions to suddenly stop seeing his doctors. But that’s what Patricia Smith, a nurse with Aetna’s Physicians Outreach team, found while visiting a doctor’s office one day in 2014. This compelling story is one of several featured in Aetna’s new Annual Report.

No one can tell a company’s story better than the people who bring it to life every day. Aetna’s new Annual Report features videos and short stories of real people and the Aetna employees who have helped them. A series of infographics and short reports highlight the company’s 2014 achievements and explain the breadth and impact of Aetna’s products and services, while other content covers how Aetna is helping to shape the future of health care.AetnaStory2014_posterimage

In the opening video, Chairman and CEO Mark Bertolini joins other employees sharing Aetna’s philosophy, “Our core values guide us to make a difference in your world and throughout the world we reach. I couldn’t be any more proud of the work our people do. Investing in our employees and their success is a cornerstone for building a healthier world.”

Bertolini was recently named one of the “World’s Greatest Leaders” by Fortune magazine as one of those “singular leaders with vision who moved others to act as well, and who brought their followers with them on a shared quest.” Fortune cited Bertolini’s “bold move” to increase Aetna’s minimum wage and upgrade health benefits for lower-income employees.

In his letter to Aetna shareholders, Bertolini writes, “It is important that as our economy recovers, Aetna leans into the recovery and ensures that our colleagues who are vital to our success benefit, and have a greater ability to contribute to their communities.” (You can learn more about Aetna’s wage announcement here.)

The Annual Report is divided into four sections, each one focusing on a different aspect of Aetna’s work:
